An Immersive 'adults-only' Alpaca Retreat in Laguna, Wollombi Valley

New in 2025 + wood-fired Stoked Hot tub.

Nestled within a picturesque alpaca farm in Wollombi Valley, Little Valley Summerhouse is an architecturally designed, off-grid retreat that embraces sustainable living. Thoughtfully crafted with passive solar principles, this two-bedroom escape features spacious, light-filled interiors and breathtaking views of the surrounding farm and bushland.

Mornings begin with the gentle hum of nature, as guests sip coffee on the deck, watching mist rise over the paddocks. Evenings invite quiet moments by the pond with a glass of Hunter Valley wine, as the sky transforms with vibrant sunset hues. As night falls, a dazzling canopy of stars emerges—unspoiled by city lights, just as nature intended.

Here, time slows. Alpacas graze peacefully, donkeys wander along the fenceline, and native wildlife makes a graceful appearance. Whether seeking a romantic retreat, a quiet getaway with friends, or a moment of solitude, the summerhouse offers a sanctuary where the rhythm of farm life sets the pace.

Adding to its charm, the house is a true handcrafted masterpiece. Built by Euan, the home reflects his passion for sustainable design and craftsmanship. Nearly every piece of furniture has been thoughtfully created by hand, from the entire kitchen cabinetry to the bespoke bed frames, bedheads, and side tables. A striking art installation houses the wood stack for the Cheminees Philippe fireplace, seamlessly blending function with artistry.

Enhancing this unique experience is a carefully curated selection of alpaca homewares and knitwear, blending farm-crafted pieces with select items from Peru. Guests can wrap themselves in the warmth of handmade alpaca throws, sleep soundly beneath sumptuously soft alpaca duvets, and relax into the comfort of alpaca cushions. A one-of-a-kind alpaca rug enhances the space, bringing an extra touch of warmth and charm.

More than just a stay, Little Valley summerhouse offers an immersive alpaca luxury experience where nature, craftsmanship, and sustainability intertwine.

[ The house ]

The design is sophisticated, yet the primary motivation was about maximising the beautiful Hunter region weather across all seasons. It faces north with floor-to-ceiling windows, a large open breezeway and two outdoor areas.

At any time, staying by this beautiful pond, surrounded by pristine bushland, natural wildlife, and farm animals, is deeply rewarding and relaxing.

The breezeway design opens to a body of water that sparkles in the light and is a hive of activity with fish and wildlife. The open-plan living and indoor/outdoor dining area make time slip away as you eat, drink and hang out with your partner or friends.

This home is the second on our 50-acre farm, the other being ours. The two houses are a short distance apart, with bushes in between. It is a working farm, so some jobs are every day. However, your privacy is protected by the building's orientation overlooking the pond.

While there’s no air conditioning, ceiling fans are provided, and the home's orientation helps naturally regulate temperature. We’ll share efficient management tips upon check-in, as it does require human intervention.

[ The Listing ]

Our listing is thoughtfully detailed, and we encourage you to read it thoroughly to ensure our property aligns with your needs.

We understand that our unique setting isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay—we aim to host like-minded guests who share our appreciation for the remoteness, bushland, and natural beauty that make our farm so special.

[ Location ]

Wollombi Valley is surrounded by State Forests and National Parks, making it relatively ISOLATED from major conveniences, so you will need to plan ahead.

The Trading Post Laguna, our charming local food and wine bar, is under 5 km away, and Wollombi Village is only a 10-minute drive away. The two villages are tiny yet have enough good food venues, so you don't have to leave the Wollombi area.

Our farm is 40 minutes from Broke and the Pokolbin vineyards. It is great to visit those places, but if you want to stay in the 'wine region,' you are better off booking a place closer to them.

Access to our farm involves a 1 km dirt track, which helps provide seclusion and bushland charm. The track is suitable for most cars except sports or low-modified vehicles, and confident drivers have no issues.

[ About us ]

We live on-site up the hill behind the summerhouse. We are not a 'country estate' or a resort; instead, we embrace the beauty of our surroundings and enjoy creating beautiful things.

We take pride in doing nearly everything as part of our independent lifestyle on our land. We offer an authentic nature experience on a small working farm. Our focus is not on luxury but on a genuine connection with the environment.

In 2023-2024, our glamping 1950's Red Rattler Train Carriage was proudly nominated as one of the BEST UNIQUE STAYS across Australia. While it remains offline as we focus on the summerhouse, it remains a cherished part of our farm's story.
